Our Mission
The Great Lakes Training Center is a state-of-the-art, multi-use recreation center dedicated to creating a vibrant and supportive community through several key principles:
Community Building: We bring people together through shared spaces and activities, fostering a sense of belonging and togetherness. We encourage active involvement to build a stronger, more connected community.
Member Empowerment: We empower our members by providing opportunities for lifelong learning, personal growth, skill development, and success.
Inclusivity: We foster inclusivity by creating a welcoming and accessible environment that embraces and values diversity.
Our Purpose
While the Great Lakes Training Center is structured as a multi-use facility, its primary purpose is to serve as the official home of our wrestling program, Great Lakes Wrestling.

Opening: Winter and Spring 2026
We purposefully designed our community center to be an environment for our athletes to train with natural airflow during warm seasons. To achieve this, we included three openings with overhead doors. Additionally, windows are located alongside each opening to provide natural light and extra airflow.
Mats
Our top priorities are safety, quality, and performance. That is why we have purchased three 42' x 42' two-sided Classic wrestling mats from Resilite. The Classic mat is made with the longest-lasting foam technology, providing industry-leading impact protection and cushioning. We believe these mats will minimize the risk of injury for our athletes during intense practices and enhance our athletes' training experience. One side will be printed as competition, while the other side will be printed for practice. The three mats were ordered in August 2025 and are expected to arrive by Spring 2026.
Bleachers
Two-tier, 15-foot aluminum bleachers will be positioned alongside each mat. These bleachers are commercially designed for use by both athletes and spectators.
Wrestling Sleds
A wrestling sled is an excellent tool for developing functional strength, power, and endurance. Their heavy-duty frame, equipped with a handle or harness, allows for versatile training. Athletes can increase resistance by loading the sled with weights or having a partner stand on it. Three sleds will be available for training.
The unique design of these sleds supports a variety of exercises, including takedown drills, where they can simulate an opponent's torso and legs, as well as general conditioning exercises like sled pushes and pulls.
Weight and Cardio Center
The Great Lakes Training Center features a 900-square-foot weight and cardio area. In addition to the equipment shown in the models, the center also includes an additional rack of dumbbells and various cardio equipment such as ellipticals, stationary bikes, and treadmill. There are also battle ropes and a range of accessories including medicine balls, foam rollers, weighted jump ropes, and push-up handles. This comprehensive selection of equipment allows the center to offer an all-encompassing training experience, aligning with our mission to be a complete training center.
